Price & Supply

  1. Arabica futures closed at 315.20 US cents per pound on Feb 3, hitting a new high since 1977. Brazil’s drought and torrential rains cut Arabica output by 4.4%; Vietnam’s Robusta has faced shortages for 3 consecutive years. The global coffee market has seen a supply deficit for 5 straight years, with a gap of about 8.5 million bags in 2025-2026.
  2. Uncertainties over the EU’s Deforestation-Free Regulation have intensified procurement volatility and lifted price expectations.

Industry & Technology

  1. Yunnan’s coffee planting area reached 1.463 million mu with an output of 138,900 tons in 2025, up 15.4% and 16.9% YoY respectively. Its deep processing rate hit 85%. The "Yun Ka No.1" variety, X-ray screening and FreshShield preservation technology upgraded bean quality. Yunnan exported 19,000 tons of coffee worth 860 million RMB to 43 countries.
  2. Kunshan imported 2.56 billion RMB of green coffee beans in 2025 (+56.4% YoY), emerging as a green coffee distribution and roasting hub in the Yangtze River Delta.

Quality & Compliance

  1. Vietnam busted multiple coffee fraud cases in Feb: A factory in Dak Nong produced coffee powder with rotten beans, battery black powder and stone powder (12 tons involved, 3 tons flowed to the market); Lam Dong seized counterfeit premium coffee made of soybeans and essence. Beware of low-price inferior products.

Trade Update

  1. Hunan port imported 2.4 tons of Rwandan coffee beans for the first time, enjoying zero tariff, which were settled in Changsha Coffee Industrial Park.
  2. Global coffee output is projected to reach a record 178.7-178.8 million bags in 2026, but structural differentiation is prominent and prices will remain high.
